service overview
At Dubwerx, our service department has years of hands on experience diagnosing and repairing VW and Audi vehicles. Specializing in these two closely related platforms allow us to know your vehicle intimately. In comparison to other garages that work on all makes and models, whatever issue your vehicle has, chances are we've seen it before. This translates into fewer diagnostic charges and greater accuracy in our service estimates. There is so much to know about any car; we've devoted our time and effort mastering Volkswagen and Audi technology. We believe that if you have your car serviced at Dubwerx you'll see why specialization is better.

What is your pricing/labor? – Our labor rate is $60/hour based on industry standard service times. Diagnostic is $60/hour
Do i need to make an appointment?- Yes, we ask that you please call first to schedule a time. If it is an emergency and it is after hours, you can have your vehicle towed to our shop. (LINK TO TOWING ON CONTACT PAGE) Please use our after hours key drop and leave us a voicemail with your information.
Do you provide estimates? - We provide written and oral estimates upon request. Some complex issues may require diagnostic fees up front before an estimate can be made. We do our best to provide estimates over the phone but keep in mind that a phone estimate cannot be accurate until we see the car in person.
What are your warranties on service and parts? – We provide an industry standard one year warranty on new parts. Recyled parts carry a 30-day warranty but in some cases may carry up to one year warranty. Our labor is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle, all warranty work must be performed by Dubwerx.
What kind of parts do you use, and can i provide my own parts? - 90% of our parts are German made from original suppliers to VW and Audi. Exceptions would be domestically sourced items that we have determined to be of high quality and fair price. We will not install parts provided by the customer.
Audi/VW Scheduled Maintenance – We are able to perform the scheduled maintenance for your VW or Audi as indicated in the owners manual. Your scheduled maintainence must be performed to maintain your warranty, but you do not have to go to the dealership for this service. Our invoice is proof of service in case of any warranty claim.
A warning light came on, what should I do? – Refer to your owner's manual, but in general, a red or flashing light indicates you should pull your car over immediately, turn it off and have it towed. An orange or yellow light indicates a problem and you should contact Dubwerx for an appointment.
Intermittent problems – Intermittent problems are the most difficult to diagnose. We cannot make a diagnosis unless your car is exhibiting symptoms! Please assist us in recreating the symptom by noting environmental factors and driving actions that produce the symptom. In the event of a true intermittent issue, you may be faced with three options: you may leave the car at Dubwerx till we can replicate the symptom, continue to drive the vehicle till the symptom becomes consistent, or based on experience we can make an educated guess and replace a part at your expense.
Oil changes – Oil changes are one of the most critical parts of servicing your vehicle. In the interest of lowering percieved maintenence costs automakers extend the interval between oil changes. Has oil advanced so much that intervals can be extended to 10,000 or even 15,000 miles? Simply, NO. Despite the availability of synthetics and other “high mileage” oils, we recommend changing your oil and filter every 3,000 miles with conventional or 5,000 miles with synthetic (depending on your vehicle) for the best performance & overall longevity of your vehicle.
Timing belts - Two-thirds of all vehicles are fitted with an engine timing belt that requires replacement between 60,000 and 100,000 miles. On many of these vehicles, a timing belt breakage can result in thousands of dollars in engine damage. If you have purchased your VW or Audi used and do not have records of the timing belt being changed, we can inspect your vehicle and determine if it is due for replacement. Most timing belt jobs include replacement of the waterpump. Please call for pricing and recommended replacement interval for your specific model.
Oil sludge 1.8T – The oil sludge problem is a well documented issue with the 1.8-liter turbocharged engine as found in the VW Passat 1.8T and Audi A4 1.8T. It is caused by a poorly designed oil breather system, frequent short drives, and lack of regular oil changes. When this problem occurs, sludge clogs the pickup screen of the oil pump causing the engine's oil pressure to drop and the red light for low oil pressure to illuminate. Failue to turn off the engine immediately when the oil light is on can result in catastrophic failure of the engine and turbocharger.
Automatic transmissions – Most VW and Audi automatic transmissions made after 1996 are consdered "maintenance free" and are not recommended to have fluid or filter changes for the duration of their lives. We disagree, to a point. If your car has low enough miles, we think regular fluid and filter changes may extend the life of your transmission. However, on higher mileage transmissions, we do not recommend any service, due to the possibility of the transmission performing worse! Please contact us for further information regarding service for your make and model.
Aftermarket Warranties – With the purchase of a used VW or Audi, many dealerships offer extended warranties for an additional cost. DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!! Seriously though, most of the time they cost between $500 and $2000 and if you read the fine print there are so many limitations that you are unlikely to recoup your investment unless you have a major engine failure. And you can avoid a major engine failure by having your used VW or Audi inspected before you buy it and maintaning it properly. There is no susbstitute for having a used vehicle inspected before you buy it. If you already have a warranty contract with your car we can work with them.
