Safety Tips for Driving Safely on New Year’s Eve

December 1, 2020

Even though the holidays might look a little different this year, we expect many of us will still be celebrating the New Year. 2020 has been crazy, to say the least, and the team at Dubwerx is looking forward to seeing what is to come in 2021. We want all of our clients to have a safe and secure New Year’s Eve, which is why we have put together these safety tips for driving safely on New Year’s Eve:

  • When driving on New Year’s Eve, slow and steady always wins the race. We recommend reducing your speeds, braking sooner, and driving an extra car length behind any vehicles in front of you. We can’t always detect icy patches, and we won’t be able to see our best in snow and rain.
  • Make sure to plan ahead. You can download a navigation app to plan your trip ahead of time. For example, Waze will show you the fastest route while alerting you of road hazards and accidents, which can be especially used on New Year’s Eve.
  • Keep a close eye out for any intoxicated drivers, as they do have a few “tells,” such as weaving, tailgating, and driving over the middle of the centerline. You might also see an intoxicated driver driving on the wrong side of the road, barely passing other cars, or stopping at green lights. If you notice anyone driving like this, call 911 and report the vehicle.
  • Think about preparing your vehicle ahead of time for winter. When the temperature drops, your vehicle has to work that much harder. Certain components of your vehicle, including your windshield wipers and lights, become even more essential, as they are your first line of defense against the elements.

The team at Dubwerx wants you to have a safe and happy holiday this year. We encourage you to bring your Volkswagen, Audi, or Porsche to our facility, and we will carefully inspect and service your vehicle.
